Braided SpectraŽ Fishing Line
SpectraŽ fiber braided fishing lines have gained widespread acceptance in the last few years because:
SpectraŽ fibers have a very low stretch which means a fish bite is easily felt and the hook-set is quick and sure.
SpectraŽ fiber have a very high strength-to-diameter ratio can put more line at the same strength, or the same length line at a greater breaking strength on the same reel.
Braided SpectraŽ fiber line is less than 1/3 the diameter of monofilament of the same line test, is extremely flexible and so strong for its weight that it is used in the construction of bulletproof vests.
SpectraŽ fiber lines exhibit a very long life, will not rot and is not readily damaged by UV sunlight, unlike monofilament line. SpectraŽ fiber lines will not swell in water and does not lose strength when wet.
With these advantages there had to be some disadvantages and perhaps the greatest being that all SpectraŽ fibers are opaque, therefore may be visible to some fish. The solution of adding a length of less-visible monofilament or fluorocarbon leader resulted in the search for a knot that would hold the two different materials, without one harming the other when stressed against the rigors of landing a quality fish.
Albright and bimini knots were required with the first generation SpectraŽ fiber lines, but these knots are bulky and hard to tie correctly, never able to made close to 100% line strength. The unique Hollow Braided SpectraŽ Fiber line has overcome that transitional knot problem and offers additional advantages.
